What is industrial integration?

Industrial integration moves the data produced by machines, PLCs, meters and sensors into the software that production, maintenance, quality, energy and finance teams use, reliably and with context. Unlike an automation project, it does not change how a machine runs. It makes what the machine does visible and connects that to the systems where decisions are made.

In most plants the problem is not missing data but scattered data: every line has its own HMI, every department its own spreadsheet, and production figures reach the ERP by hand at the end of the shift. An integration project brings those sources into one data model, so everyone gets the same answer to the same question.

How an integration project runs

Every project starts with a site survey: the machine park, controller types, network, existing software and the three questions that hurt most. A pilot line or department is chosen, where data collection, the data model and the first screens are built and validated with the people who will use them. Once the pilot works, the same template is rolled out to other lines and sites.

This reduces two risks: the investment produces something visible within the first weeks, and because the model and naming settle in the pilot, the same work is not repeated on every line.

Why one integration team

When connectivity, edge, data modelling, MES and ERP integration are split across vendors, every interface between them becomes a gap in ownership. VOLSOFT builds all of these layers with one team and one platform, so every step between a value read from a machine and a production record in the ERP has a clear owner.
